Evaluation- Question Seven
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you think you have learnt in progression from it to the full product?
Looking back at the preliminary task I think I have learned alot, simply because working with the group i did it was important to work together. There were arguments but it was good and in a way beneficial because it gave us a chance to express our ideas. And what groups don't argue. It gave us all a chance to share and participate equally, using our own individual skills in the places needed.
Although team work is the most important i was proud of myself for challenging my skills and improving them. I took myself out of my comfort zone and that was the most important thing to me. I worked to the best of my ability and achieved in improving my skills. Not only did i just improve my skills i personally feel my confidence has developed so much in working with new people and expressing my ideas.
Coming to the end of the project i enjoyed it very much, although sometimes i got frustrated but that just made me realise how much work and effort goes in to creating title sequences and films.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
When beginning this project we decided that we would stick to what we knew in a way. I currently study photography and already have a rough idea in filming and photography techniques. If i learnt anything new it would have to be:

- It doesn't matter how many times you shoot the same scene because each time it changes, either for better or worse.
- Different camera angles to get the right positioning.
- The lighting, because we needed to make sure the lighting was reasonably dim but had the lighting coming through in the right places.
The real thing that was new to me was the software we used when editing our title sequence. We used imovie which i hadn't used before so it took me a while to get used to the software. Although we kept it reasonably simple, i feel i tried to expand my knowledge on the using this software and pushed myself to achieve the standard i wanted my title sequence at.
Of course for filming we used a tripod and lighting which i had knowledge of already, my group used a simple video recorder and positioned the camera from the angle to make the audience more enchanced in what they would be viewing.

How did you attract/address your audience?
In order to attract my target audience the main criteria consisted of:
The mise en scene, because the location and props were vital to the development and visual effects. This is what catches the audience and makes them intrigued in viewing my film.
The casting, four different characters all developing throughout. The audience can either sympathies or dislike the characters as the characters can all appeal to different audiences.
Music. in a way can be represented as eery and mysterious. It adds drama and is vital to the production because it helps create the correct effect. Although the music is not dramatic and strong, it gives a good impact being soft and steady speed.
Camera, the establishing shots mainly helps create the right effect this is because it shows the environment and location surrounding the chaos and helps the audience relate and sympathies to the characters and the protagonist.

Evaluation- Question Three
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Thriller and Suspense Films are types of films known to promote intense excitement, suspense, and intruiging expectaions. The institutions which would possibly develop my film would be either rogue pictures or Pathe productions, simply bacuase they have developed thrillers like "the stranger", "Wrong Turn", and "Silent Hill" the reasons why i said these films was because the murderers all tease their victims in ways and all consist of suspence and intruiging cliffhangers.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
The title sequence was mainly aimed at the age groups from 16 to 25, during the title sequence we made sure the murderer was not seen, simply because we felt the audience would be more intrigued and curios to who the killer was.
Our main character could be compared to people like the killer "Jigsaw from the film Saw. I say this because both murderers tease their killers, in a way tests their abilities and the need to survive. The idea of the murderer's intentions could be compared to a game in the way she treats her victims, she enjoys chasing after them and almost provoking them into the positions she wants them.

The victims in the title sequence all connect in similar ways. All are obsessed with beauty and materialistic things. All young and naive, all teenage girls who have come across their killer in some way. We made our characters all reasonably similar ages mainly because we felt the audience that we were aiming for would be more interesting in seeing the film.
In conclusion I believe that our title sequence does represent certain social groups and and appeals to the right stereotype of people. Not only will the media help in convincing people to see the film but it will appeal to what most people ranging in that age group will want to see.Evaluation, Question One

A title sequence is seen as the most vital part of a film. This is because a title sequence is what draws the audience in and introduces the film, whether giving a good impression or bad impression. Each title sequence have their own individual features that creates the right opening and effects to begin the film. The title sequence is the buildingroman or protagonist of films because as it develops it introduces the ideas leading in to the plot of the film.
Our title sequence the dolls house introduces the idea of feminism, mainly because when developing the ideas for the title sequence we were looking at the book "a dolls house" by Ibsen, it inspired us to question the idea of conforming with society and the different aspects shown.
The main theme of the title sequence is the idea of phyichotic murders and challenges the confused mind of a schizophrenic female murderer. We got this idea from the series Dexter which is show on channel four, this is about a man who murders secretly but yet posses an everyday job and an everyday lifestyle conforming with society and his victims.

We have finished our filming and editing and everythink is complete. However we had trouble uploading the storyboard, continuity piece and the title sequence. We tried to upload to youtube but that still didnt work, were still trying to upload, hopefully it will be on our blogs soon.

Dexter
This is a clip from the American TV series Dexter, It is based on the novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay and adapted for television. Dexter's title sequence features a montage where ordinary day-to-day activities such as shaving, dressing, preparing breakfast and eating are used and editing to also portray Dexter's dark side. The music is very calm but in a a way sounds menacing and the camera angles are close up and captures fine detail.

Our target audience for our film, is mainly teenagers over the age of 18 because we intend to make the rating between the certificate of 16 or 18 this is because some of the scenes are for an older audience and contain unpleasant imagery. The film is for those who find thrillers enjoyable and look forward to seeing gripping and chilling horror movies.

Why title sequences are important.
Title sequences are important because they help get the audience hooked and intrigued in the film they are about to see. A title sequence is a method by which cinematic films or television gives an exciting build up to what is to occur as the film progresses. Most title sequences from the 1950's were normally illustrated, for example the artist Saul Bass used illustrations for title sequences. In the film industry, the opening title sequence of a film is considered to be the most important and intriguing aspect in the film. Apart from the marketing of the films, the title sequences are the very first images the audience sees. The interesting clips last about two to three minutes long, in which the film maker's intentions are to get the audience interested and the suspense created.
Normally if the title sequence is good and builds up tension it means the film will be even better, the film director's main intensions is to impress the audience so their expectations of film are higher and makes them want to watch the film more.

Filming
We have now finished all of ourfilming and have started to edit the title sequence. We intend to experiment with the effects and audio sounds. Our main idea for the title sequence is to give it an old fashioned look.
The firts place we filmed was located at Samuel Montagu centre. We used an old and Isolated rugby shower room, in order to create the effect needed we covered the windows and deliberatly placed the fake blood to give it a horror effect.
The next place was a dark corridor.We used set up lighting to place the lighting in the right position, it turned out exactly as we planned because we intended the corridor to have very little light just enough to make out very fine and little detail of the scene.
Next we used a dark room with black walls. This was to film the scene with the jewellery box and the scene with the killer present and making the model of the "dolls house". We used little light because out main aim of that scene was to make the camera focus on either the jewellery box or the killer making the model of the murder victims.
Next to film was the sink scene this was our final scene to film. we filled a plain white sink with water and fake blood and had fake blood slowly dribbling in to the sink from above.

Extreme Wide Shot (EWS)..
The extreme wide shot is to show the surroundings of the Locations. The EWS is often used as an "establishing shot" - Which is normally the first shot of a new scene, they do this normally to introduce the location and the surroundings in which the characters are in.

Title
As a group we decided on the title "Dolls House". We chose this title because we intend to have a model of the location in which the murderer keeps their victims.
We had an idea of making the murderer female. Possibly because we wanted to try and connect the storyline with feminism and the novel "A dolls house by Ibsen". We intended for the storyline to have a strong meaning behind it.
